 http://www.ais-sociologia.it/pic-news/per-una-critica-della-ragione-digitale-incontro-pubblico-con-geert-lovink/

Geert Lovink è Associate Professor in Media Studies all’University of Amsterdam ed è fondatore e direttore dell’Institute of Network Cultures.

A lecture by Geert Lovink : Internet, Globalization and the Politics of Language

 http://www.mediartsoffice.eu/

Internet, Globalization and the Politics of Language.

GEERT LOVINK Direttore del "Institute of Network Cultures" (Amsterdam) "Once the Internet changed the world, now the world is changing the Internet"

Prof. Tiziana Terranova - “L’Orientale “ (Napoli)

Organizzazione a cura di: Dipartimento di Studi Americani Culturali e Linguistici dell'Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale” Media Partner: MAO - Media & Arts Office ONLUS :: Invito al talk

Faut-il avoir peur du Web 2.0 ?

 http://www.cybercultura.it/pdf/2008_Internet_mon_amour1.pdf

Blogging, the nihilist impulse

 http://www.eurozine.com./articles/2007-01-02-lovink-en.html

Weblogs or blogs are the successors of the '90s Internet "homepage" and create a mix of the private (online dairy) and the public (self-PR management). According to the latest rough estimates of the Blog Herald,[1] there are 100 million blogs worldwide, and it is nearly impossible to make general statements about their "nature" and divide them into proper genres. I will nonetheless attempt to do this. It is of strategic importance to develop critical categories of a theory of blogging that takes the specific mixture of technology, interface design, software architecture, and social networking into account.

Instead of merely looking into the emancipatory potential of blogs, or emphasizing their counter-cultural folklore, I see blogs as part of an unfolding process of "massification" of this still new medium. What the Internet lost after 2000 was the "illusion of change". This void made way for large-scale, interlinked conversations through freely available automated software.

Lovink - La realtà sporca della Rete

 http://www.mentelocale.it/modi_mode/contenuti/index_html/id_contenuti_varint_15093

Intervista a Geert Lovink.Amsterdam.

Art and politics of netporn

 http://www.networkcultures.org/archive/index.php?onderdeelID=14&paginaID=60&itemID=165

On September 30 and October 1, 2005 the first academic conference on netporn was held in Amsterdam. It was organized by the Institute of Network Cultures, Katrien Jacobs and Matteo Pasquinelli. The Art and Politics of Netporn presented multiple perspectives on our growing immersion in pornographic web-based media. Furthermore, it discussed the potential of art and critical research in times of heightened information surveillance, filtering and censorship.

Dawn of the Organised Networks

 http://journal.fibreculture.org/issue5/lovink_rossiter.html

At first glance the concept of "organised networks" appears oxymoronic. In technical terms, all networks are organised. There are founders, administrators, moderators and active members who all take up roles. Think also back to the early work on cybernetics and the "second order" cybernetics of Bateson and others. Networks consist of mobile relations whose arrangement at any particular time is shaped by the "constitutive outside" of feedback or noise...

Luci ed ombre dell'attivismo mediatico secondo Geert Lovink

 http://www.pazlab.net/rete/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=320&Itemid=39

Interview with Lisa Nakamura Race and Cyberspace Geert Lovink, May 2004

 http://laudanum.net/geert/files/1085495177/index.shtml?1094854299

I met Internet scholar Lisa Nakamura on a conference in Oslo, late 2001, where she showed how techno-utopian dreams reproduced racist patterns. Her analysis was of a shocking normality because it, once again, proved how 'the old' got teleported into the new in such a frictionfree manner. Nakamura's material shows how the Internet, despite all its alternative claims, is part of dominant visual culture. "No one on the Internet knows you are a dog." It is this flirt with fluid identities, so common in the roaring nineties that distracted Internet advocates from futher investigations. That, of course, changed over the past years. A number of conferences were held, and studies done and Lisa Nakamura's work stands out within this context. The following email interview was done after we both got involved in a debate about the merits of 'Internet research'.

 centro di ricerca,

Institute of Network Cultures (INC) - Amsterdam

 http://www.networkcultures.org

The Institute of Network Cultures (INC), which was set up in June 2004, caters to research, meetings and (online) initiatives in the area of internet and new media. Not only will the INC facilitate, but also initiate and produce a range of projects. Its goal is to create an open organizational form with a strong focus on content, within which ideas (emanating from both individuals and institutions) can be given an institutional context at an early stage. Based on the fusion of old and new media, the INC aims to organize both public and internal meetings and to formulate new research.

 ricercatore - sito web,

Lovink Geert

 http://laudanum.net/geert/biography.shtml
